Monday (September 11th, 2023) - Commission VIII of the House of Representative conducted a specific work visit in order to supervise Family Hope Program social assistance distribution, Basic Food program, and Disaster Management Assistance in Yogyakarta. In the visit, Ministry of Social Affairs provided assistance, distributed by the Secretary of Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation Salahudin Yahya, together with Commission VIII group represented by My Esti Wijayanti.

In accordance with the duties and functions of the House to supervise the implementation of laws including the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta provincial government, especially regarding the distribution of social assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs and National Board on Disaster Management (BNPB).

My Esti Wijayanti in her speech said that one of the big roles of Social Welfare Education and Training Center in Yogyakarta currently, apart from carrying out duties in the field of education and training, is serving as a Social Service Center more specifically. Esti continued that the work visit wants to observe directly and discuss aspirations as material for formulating policies in the fields of social and disaster as well as distributing assistance to beneficiaries.

“Commission VIII of the House will continue to supervise directly to the community to check whether the assistance distributed by Ministry of Social Affairs or National Board on Disaster Management is right on target and useful towards the citizens receiving it,” Esti said in her speech.

Esti also talked to local governments, especially the Special Region of Yogyakarta Regional Board on Disaster Management (BPBD), regarding handling drought disasters in areas that need attention. Ministry of Social Affairs provides assistance worth IDR 2,335,300,000 through the Social Harmony program to establish a clean water management system to meet the basic needs of residents. The recipients of the assistance were two Social Harmony Forum groups in Gunung Kidul Regency.

Furthermore, Esti also explained about the community empowerment training program carried out by of Social Welfare Education and Training Center in Yogyakarta. Thus, they could see what has been done, with the hope that changes would occur, and the beneficiaries could be socially and economically independent.

Apart from that, the Ministry of Social Affairs together with Commission VIII of the House distribute several types of assistance, namely the Family Hope Program (PKH), Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program (ATENSI), Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT)/Basic Food Program, Natural Disaster Management assistance, and Social Harmony assistance as many as 2 packages with a total assistance value of IDR 548,142,729,842.

Family Hope Program for Special Region of Yogyakarta Province in the First Phase was 202.048 Beneficiary Families (KPM), Second Phase was 204.334 KPM, and Third Phase was 189.653. The total Family Hope Program assistance from the first to third phase worth IDR 413,299,228,242. A hundred Family Hope Program beneficiaries also attend the event, and they also receive basic food assistance package.

The Third Phase of National Board on Disaster Management Program (July - September) was distributed through PT. POS are 9.528 beneficiaries and IB (July-August) distributed through Himbara are 312.842 beneficiaries. The total of National Board on Disaster Management assistance for Special Region of Yogyakarta Province is IDR 130,858,600,000. Twenty-five National Board on Disaster Management beneficiaries also present to receive basic food package assistance.

Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program distributed in the form of 1.000 basic food packages, 1 unit of modified three-wheeled motorcycle, 1 unit of modified two-wheeled motorcycle, 14 adult wheelchairs, and 2 children wheelchairs with the total worth of IDR 294,687,600.

Natural disaster management assistance distributed worth IDR 1,354,914,000 in the form of disaster management buffer stock for the Special Region Yogyakarta Provincial Social Office warehouse, compensation for the heirs of 1 dead victim, and compensation for 3 injured victims.

A modified three-wheeled motorcycle with total worth of IDR 38,850,000 was given to Sulistyo, a person with disability from Imogiri Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, who sold 3 kg gas cylinders in daily life, and modified two-wheeled motorcycle worth IDR 28,935,000 to Sutrisno, a person with disability from Sewon Subdistrict, Bantul Regency whose lives daily by selling character gas balloons. It was hoped that the assistance would be useful for the recipients to develop their businesses and increase their income in the future.

The members of Commission VIII of House, Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, Head of empowerment training program carried out by Head of "Kartini" Integrated Center in Temanggung, Head of Antasena Center in Magelang, National Board on Disaster Management representatives, Head of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Social Office and Deputy Regent of Sleman were also present at the event.
