JAKARTA (March 1st 2020) - The Watunas Social Rehabilitation Center "Mulya Jaya" in Jakarta received a visit from Participants of The 2nd International Conference on Social Worker organized by the Muhammadiyah University Jakarta. The group consisted of social workers from various countries including America, Germany, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Ireland, Thailand and Social Welfare Study Programs from various universities in Indonesia were greeted with traditional North Sumatra dances and flower wreaths performed by the BRS the client Watunas "Mulya Jaya". The purpose of this visit was to find out the extent of social rehabilitation services for ex-prostitutes (Tuna Susila), victims of violence and trafficking in persons.
"The factors that cause social problems are different, the material obtained in class and implementation in the field is very different," said Juena.
The treatment provided in the service at the center differed greatly from the duration of two weeks, two months and also six months. The therapy provided in the center is family support, social care and therapies (physical health, mental spiritual, psychosocial, livelihood).
"Every client referred to our center is subjected to a health test covering HIV and sexually transmitted diseases and clients who are rehabilitated in this center are of their own accord and awareness," said Juena.
"How will it be handled if the client does not have a family?" asked Puan, one of the seminar participants from Malaysia.
Juena said that for the case of clients who do not have a family, they are referred to the Regional Government to jointly handle the case.
On this occasion, an MoU was also signed on the Improvement of the Service Quality of the Social Rehabilitation Program through practicum, research and community service. This MoU was signed by Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Si as Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta and Juena Br. Sitepu, S.Sos, M.Si as Head of Social Rehabilitation Center for Watunas "Mulya Jaya" in Jakarta. This MoU aims to improve the quality of social welfare education and social rehabilitation services.
At the end of the visit, all participants were invited to review the facilities and infrastructure as well as the skills being followed by the the client as well as to interact more closely with the the client of the Watunas Social Rehabilitation Center "Mulya Jaya" in Jakarta.
