JAMBI (April 21st 2020) - "When will this pandemic end?" screams in the hearts of vulnerable families whose economies are unstable due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The anxiety and uneasiness of this vulnerable family is the concern of the Social Rehabilitation for Children "Alyatama", which is concerned about the family's resilience in facing the pandemic.

Monday (20/4), the Head of the Social Rehabilitation for Children "Alyatama" in Jambi together with the Head of the Social Rehabilitation Service Section, the Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section and Social Workers provided basic food packages, namely rice, vegetable oil, instant noodles and milk. Basic food packages were given to 60 vulnerable families around the Social Rehabilitation for Children "Alyatama".

The basic food packages are an integral part of the Ministry of Social Affairs' concern, especially the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation for vulnerable families and Children Needing Special Protection who are severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as has been done by the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation in Jabodetabek and other areas throughout Indonesia.

The Social Rehabilitation for Children “Alyatama” team had previously collected data with the head of the local RT to identify recipients who were truly entitled to receive assistance. The beneficiaries are mostly informal sector workers whose income depends on their work on that day.

"We are very grateful to get this assistance, because I have not worked for a month," said one aid recipient who works as a casual daily laborer.

Imron told these vulnerable families to remain patient and ensure that the government will not remain silent in these circumstances.
