JAKARTA (23 January 2020) - Director General of Poverty Handling (Dirjen PFM) Andi ZA Dulung hopes that the village economy can move more through the Joint Business Group (KUBE) program. "So I think this is a lot of opportunities, we are left with how to move the program (KUBE) so that the economic movement in the village or in this area can really move with our program," said the Director General of Poverty Handling at the closing of the Socialization of the Staple Food Program of the Directorate for Poverty Handling Region II, at a hotel in Jakarta.

On this occasion, the Director General of Poverty Handling conveyed to the participants that new methods needed to be implemented in the context of handling the poor or reducing the poverty rate, namely by means of empowerment. "The conceptual thinking is that we must have started trying new ways in the context of dealing with the poor or reducing the poverty rate, namely by means of empowerment," said the Director General of Poverty Handling.

The Director General of Poverty Handling said that to increase the empowerment program, the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of Finance had discussed how to improve the budget so that it was allocated more for empowerment programs. "So, thank God, yesterday we had a lot of discussions with the Minister of Social Affairs with the Minister of Finance, hopefully in the near future we will improve the budget so that the budget for empowerment, the budget for KUBE can be increased," explained the Director General of Poverty Handling.

However, the Director General of Poverty Handling emphasized to the Social Service that the prospective KUBE recipients are beneficiary families (KPM) who really want to do business. This is intended so that the KUBE which is run by the KPM has a high success rate. "Well, we only entrusted the friends of the Social Service, especially the Regency / City, to choose KPM who will become members of KUBE, please choose the people who really want to go forward and try, because if it is not like that then the success rate will be low," said the Director General of Poverty Handling.

Overall, the Director General of Poverty Handling said that in choosing KPM to become a member of KUBE, the Social Service needs to pay attention to the time of recruitment, mentoring, and then the scope of business to be selected by the KUBE so that the success rate will increase.

In this activity, participants who attended consisted of all Heads of Provincial Social Services, Heads of Regency / City Social Services, and Cortex in Region II. In addition, an agreement was made for the 2020 Staple Food Program by the Director of Poverty Handling Region II, Mr. I Wayan Wirawan along with representatives from all provinces in Region II, representatives of Himbara, and representatives of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.
