JAKARTA (April 30, 2024) - The Ministry of Social Affairs confirms its commitment to continue implementing the Indonesian Economic Heroes (PENA) program, one of which is by encouraging the beneficiaries of the PENA program to dare rebrand their product packaging.

“The strength of the product being sold depends not only on its delicious taste but also on the packaging design. Good packaging design will add value to the product," said Minister of Social Affairs Risma in front of young designers who took part in the Tatarupa Designer Summit 2024 at the Aneka Bhakti Building, Ministry of Social Affairs in Jakarta, Friday (26/4).

The Ministry of Social Affairs collaborates with Tatarupa Nusantara to reorganize the packaging of PENA products to improve quality and expand the market. Through Tatarupa Nusantara 1000 MSME activities, they have done the packaging rebrand successfully for 384 assisted MSMEs (PENA) in the Jabodetabek area. This program involves more than 175 pupils and students from 12 well-known institutions in Indonesia who have been in the process for 6 weeks to create packaging designs suitable for MSMEs.

"Thank you for the support of students from 12 universities who have created creative and attractive product designs," said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

Since its launch in November 2022, PENA has targeted thousands of Beneficiary Families (KPM) who are recipients of social assistance such as the Family Hope Program (PKH), necessities, Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI), and other assistance.

The Ministry of Social Affairs runs the PENA program to empower people with low incomes or who are on the poverty line. Through the program, beneficiaries are provided with capital assistance to purchase goods and raw materials. Apart from that, they also receive aid for product packaging, marketing, and financial management.
