BANGKOK (February 26th 2020) - The Department of Social Welfare and Development of the Philippines ASEAN Secretariat is organizing the ASEAN Regional Conference on Online Child Protection. The event was attended by 150 delegates from ASEAN member countries, Korea, China, Japan and representatives of UN agencies, International NGOs and the private sector.
This conference is a collaboration between UNICEF, ITU, DSWD which aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences between policy makers in order to increase commitment to online child protection in ASEAN in the context of technology, law enforcement, education, finance and social welfare. In addition, the conference serves as a channel for making decisions regarding future child protection online at the national, regional and global levels after the adoption of a child. This is in accordance with the Declaration on the Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence and Exploitation of Children Online by ASEAN Leaders at the 35th ASEAN Summit.
The activity which took place from 25th-27th February 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand was attended by the Indonesian delegation from government elements such as the Ministry of Social Affairs, namely the Director of Social Rehabilitation for Children, Kanya Eka Santi, and the Head of Social Rehabilitation, AMPK Susi Dewi, Ministry of PPPA, Ministry of Communication and Information, Bareskim Indonesian National Police and attorney General's Office.
