JAKARTA (February 5, 2020) - The Social
Rehabilitation Center for Children Needing Special Protection (BRSAMPK)
"Handayani" in Jakarta handed over four neglected children from Jambi
to the local government. This reunification and reintegration was attended by
the Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection
(Komnas PA) as the referral, an element of the Merangin regional government
represented by the Regional Assistant, and Regional House of Representatives of
Merangin Regency.
In
his statement, the Head of BRSAMPK "Handayani" in Jakarta, Neneng
Heryani, said that when the child was referred by Komnas PA, the center
immediately carried out a physical and psychological examination. The results
showed that there was no physical injury or psychological trauma.
"We
did not find any trauma to the children, as long as they were in the hall they
could participate in activities well," said Neneng.
The
chairman of Komnas PA, Arist Merdeka Sirait, appreciated the steps of the local
government which have paid serious attention to this case.
On
the same occasion, the Regional Assistant for the Merangin Regency Government,
Abdul Gani, expressed his gratitude to BRSAMPK "Handayani" and Komnas
PA for providing protection for the residents. This was also conveyed by the
Chairman of the Merangin DPRD, Herman Efendi.
Previously,
four students from Merangin Jambi were stranded on the streets and were found
by the community who then took the four children to Komnas PA. Komnas PA then
referred the four children to BRSAMPK "Handayani" in Jakarta.
